Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the most common gastrointestinal
disorder affecting 15-20% of the general population.
IBS characterized by abdominal pain or cramping and
changes in bowel function including bloating, gas, diarrhea
and constipation.
While the cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome is unknown,
IBS is associated with altered bowel motility, hypersensitivity,
psychosocial factors and an imbalance in neurotransmitters.
Symptoms are often initiated are exacerbated by mental
or social stresses. As there is no cure, IBS can be
controlled by medication, diet and stress management.
Levsin S/L®
is a fast acting anti-cholenergic drug that is administered
sub-lingually (under the tongue) to control symptoms
of IBS. This antispasmodic agent is used to reduce abdominal
pain and bloating symptoms at the onset of an acute
IBS attack.
